2023 Workshops

This year, given our collective bandwidth and also limitations of the space, we are only hosting two workshops. All workshops will be held outside.
12:00-1:30pm Transformative & Restorative Justice- A Conversation from Lived Experience.
Hear from formerly incarcerated people and advocates about broken approaches to crime and punishment, combating violence of the carceral state, and new radical practices and visions for responding to harmful behavior. A panel discussion featuring Gunner Johnson, Juan Carlos Meza, and Luca Connolly. Panelists will address their experiences and respond to each other with a question and answer period to follow.
2:00-3:30 Weelaunee Worldwide: Block Cop City Speaking Tour.
This is an invitation to join a powerful collective action. After more than two years of struggle to defend the Weelaunee forest in southeast Atlanta from the construction of a militarized police training facility, the movement is at a crucial crossroads. This November, there is a call for a mass action to halt construction on the site. We know the city won’t listen to the overwhelming desire of the people, and the risks of inaction are far too great. With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take a stand to bend the course of history. This presentation will cover the history of the movement so far, how we’ve arrived at the current conjuncture, and help us get ready to join each other in November. Together we can Block Cop City.
