The Crucible
After a thorough review of event spaces in the great Bay Area, we have confirmed The Crucible in West Oakland to host the 2015 Anarchist Book Fair, the same site as the 2014 event.
The Bookfair will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015, and is open to the public from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
The Crucible is a non-profit arts organization that was founded in 1999 and moved to West Oakland in 2003. It is located at 1260 7th Street, just two blocks from the West Oakland BART station, making it easily accessible from all over the Bay Area. It is also relatively close by bike, bus, BART, or car to other Oakland venues such as Qilombo and the OMNI, making it possible for concurrent or coordinated events at other venues.

Parking
Plentiful bike racks and self-serve bicycle parking are available in the Crucible parking lot.
If you are driving to The Crucible, free street parking is available near the venue. There is no parking on The Crucible property. The Crucible is located in a residential neighborhood. To avoid taking all of the residential parking, we encourage everyone to park on or south of 7th Street (toward 5th Street), and there should be plenty of parking along those streets and side streets between Union and Market.
Directions
From San Francisco 1. From the Bay Bridge, stay right and take 880 South 2. Stay in the right lane 3. Take the Union Street Exit marked “Alameda/Broadway” 4. At the bottom of the exit ramp go straight through the first traffic light. 5. The second traffic light is 7th Street. 6. 1260 7th Street is across the street to your left.
From North of Oakland 1. From 80/580 South get onto 880 South 2. Stay in the right lane 3. Take the Union Street Exit marked “Alameda/Broadway” 4. At the bottom of the exit ramp go straight through the first traffic light. 5. The second traffic light is 7th Street. 6. 1260 7th Street is across the street to your left.
From South of Oakland 1. 880 North 2. Take the Market Street exit toward “Harbor Terminal” (just after the exit for 980 North) 3. At the bottom of the exit ramp turn right onto Market Street 4. Turn left at the traffic light onto 7th Street 5. Go three blocks to Union Street 6. 1260 7th Street is on your right.
From East of Oakland 1. Take Hwy 24/980 West 2. Take the 12th Street Exit 3. At the top of the exit ramp go straight to the 2nd traffic light 4. Turn right at the traffic light onto 7th Street 5. Go three traffic lights to Union Street 6. 1260 7th Street is on your right.
